Bambera Wins Caribbean Gr1 Clasico Del Caribe

In Puerto Rico, boom Venezuelan 3YO filly Bambera (Water Poet-Bella Fabiana, by Le Voyageur) notched her 7th Gr1 triumph of the year (& 9th overall) with a 4.5-lengths victory against older opposition in the 42nd running of the Gr1 Clasico del Caribe (the Caribbean nations international championship) over 1800m at Camarero racecourse. Favourite Bambera (ridden by Edgar Perez for trainer Gustavo Delgado) defeated Mexican-bred filly Vivian Record (by Abaginone). Overall Bambera now has 16 wins from 18 starts. Previously during 2009, Bambera also won October’s Venezuelan Gr1 Clasico Simon Bolivar (2400m) at Hipodromo La Rinconada in Caracas by 3-lengths, September’s Gr1 Clasico Hipica Nacional (2000m) by 8.5-lengths, both July's Gr1 Clasico Republica Bolivariana De Venezuela (2400m) by 12-lengths & Gr1 Clasico General Joaquin Crespo (2400m), June's Gr1 Clasico Prensa Hipica Nacional (2000m) by 5.75-lengths, both May's Gr1 Clasico Jose Antonio Paez (1600m) by 4.5-lengths & Gr1 Clasico Hipodromo La Rinconada (1600m) by 6.5-lengths, March's Listed Clasico Manual Fonseca (1400m) by 4-lengths & January's Gr2 Clasico Andres Bello (1600m). And as a 2YO in 2008, she also won both the Gr1 Clasico Comparacion (1600m) by 5.75-lengths & Gr1 Clasico Ciudad De Caracas (1600m).
