Smullen Declares Kinane "Greatest Of Them All"

The 5-time Irish champion jockey Pat Smullen, who took over the reigns from Michael Kinane when appointed stable jockey to Dermot Weld in 1999, told racingpost.com: “He was the greatest of them all & always my role model & it was a pleasure to ride against him for the past 15 years or so.” Kinane enjoyed 14 years as Weld’s number 1 stable rider from late 1983 (which yielded 10 Irish jockey titles) before moving to Ballydoyle.
