Proart Wins AJ Scahill Stakes

European Horse-Of-The-Year & 7-time Gr1-winning Coolmore shuttler Rock Of Gibraltar (Danehill-Offshore Boom, by Be My Guest) added a group success when well-bred 5YO entire Proart (Rock Of Gibraltar-Beaux Art, by Nomrood) won the $126,100 Gr3 AJ Scahill Stakes (1400m) for 3YOs & up at Ascot in Perth. Proart (ridden by Peter Hall for trainer Adam Durrant) finished strongly to defeat evergreen 7YO gelding Tarzi (Desert Prince-Majestic, by Twig Moss) & 5YO gelding Elliotto (Easy Rocking-Tanamur). Proart's 6-time stakes-winning dam Beaux Art won the Gr1 Western Australian Derby (as well as finishing 3rd in both the 1995 Gr1 Caulfield Cup & 1996 Gr1 Sydney Cup). Proart now has 8 wins & 9 placings (also including 2008’s Listed Challenge Stakes over 1400m for 3YOs at Ascot & Listed T.J.Smith Trophy over 1600m for 3YO colts & geldings at Ascot, plus last start’s Listed Carbine Club WA Stakes over 1400m at Ascot In November) from 27 starts for $365,400 earnings.
