Scouting Wide Wins Christmas Cup

NZ Cambridge Stud's multiple champion sire Zabeel (Sir Tristram-Lady Giselle, by Nureyev) added a black type victory when 5YO gelding Scouting Wide (Zabeel-Gardd, by Sheikh Albadou) won the $100,750 Listed Christmas Cup (2400m) for 3YOs & up under a daring front-running ride at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney. Scouting Wide (ridden by Tye Angland for trainer Tim Martin) defeated 6YO gelding Bright Mind (Zamindar-Bright Spells, by Alleged) & favoured 4YO gelding Star Ripper (Encosta de Lago-Dane Ripper, by Danehill). Scouting Wide (a $200,000 yearling at the 2006 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) took his record to 3 wins & 8 placings from 11 starts for $182,530 earnings.
