Vision D'Etat Wins HK Gr1 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup

Also in Hong Kong, last year's Gr1 French Derby winner & now 4YO entire Vision D'Etat (Chichicastenango-Uberaba, by Garde Royale) motored home from last on the home turn to score a half-length victory in the HK$20million (A$2.83m) Gr1 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin. French-bred Vision D'Etat (ridden by Olivier Peslier for trainer Eric Libaud) defeated Irish-bred 4YO gelding Collection (Peintre Celebre-Lasting Chance, by American Chance) & UK-bred 5YO gelding Presvis (Sakhee-Forest Fire, by Never So Bold). Vision D'Etat was a €39,000 (A$70,000) purchase at the Arqana December Mixed Sale & previously he finished 3rd in France's Gr2 Prix D'Harcourt (2000m) at Longchamp in Paris in April & followed-up 3 weeks later with victory in the Gr1 Prix Ganay (2100m) at Longchamp. During 2008, as well as winning Gr1 Prix Du Jockey Club-French Derby (2100m) at Chantilly, he also won the Gr2 Prix Niel (2400m) at Longchamp & Listed Prix De Suresnes (2000m) at Chantilly; overall he now has 8 wins & 2 placings from 12 starts.
