Italy Suspended From EBF In 2010

Tuesday, 15th December 2009

Italy will likely be suspended as a member of the European Breeders Fund (EBF) from January 1 2010, reported racingpost.com. The probable suspension resulted after “protracted negotiations between the Italian EBF (FIA) and the Italian racing authorities fell through.” The EBF requires that at least 70% of 2YO maiden races run in a season be restricted to EBF eligible horses. The suspension is likely to affect funding for races usually backed by the EBF. The suspension will be reviewed in December 2010.
