Sea The Stars Wins Irish Horse-Of-Year

In Ireland overnight this season’s 6-time Gr1-winner Sea The Stars (Cape Cross-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) was named 2009 Irish Horse-Of-The-Year at the annual Irish Horse Racing Awards in the Leopardstown Pavilion, Dublin. The result was unanimous and followed Sea The Stars’ award as Cartier Horse of the Year for all of Europe. Sea The Stars (who will enter stud at the Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud in County Kildare in Ireland at a 1st-season fee of €85,000) is a half-brother to Gr1-winners Galileo, Black Sam Bellamy & My Typhoon & recorded 8 wins (including 2009’s Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Gr1 English Derby, Gr1 Irish Champion Stakes, Gr1 UK Juddmonte International, Gr1 English 2000 Guineas & Gr1 UK Coral-Eclipse Stakes, plus 2008's Irish Gr2 Beresford Stakes) from 9 starts for €4,605,248 (A$7.368m) earnings. Other Irish champions for 2009 were:
