Lord Derby Defends Newmarket Decision

In England, high profile owner Lord Derby “has defended his controversial plans to develop 1,200 homes in Newmarket and has insisted the development would not have a harmful impact on the town's racing industry”, according to racingpost.com. The local community has been vocal in its criticism of the project. The report states that Lord Derby “has already spent £73,485 on the Hatchfield Farm project” and he commented: “I can state with absolute certainty that I will do nothing which will threaten the future of the horse racing industry in Newmarket...“
