Darley Says Octagonal "No Longer Commercial"

Friday, 18th December 2009

Darley Australia nominations manager Alistair Pulford confirmed former Australian Horse-Of-The-Year & 10-times Gr1-winning Woodlands & now Darley sire Octagonal (Zabeel-Eight Carat, by Pieces Of Eight) has been sent to Twin Hills farm at Cootamundra in southern NSW. Pulford told breednet.com.au: "Octagonal is still very fertile & able to cover mares for people who are keen to breed to race, but we no longer consider him to be commercial & he will not be included in any of the Darley promotional material. Octagonal will live out his life at Twin Hills & there is no chance of his being on-sold to another country." Octagonal has produced 60% winners-to-runners & 19 stakes-winners (including Gr1-winners Lonhro & Niello in Australia, Suntagonal in South Africa & Laverock in France). (May 6)
