Former Jockey Eades Denies Link To Melb Murders

Friday, 18th December 2009

In Australia, former Gr1-winning jockey Gavin Eades told The Herald-Sun that he & his brother Travis (a convicted criminal & associate of jailed drug boss Carl Williams) "feared for their lives" after being rumoured to be involved in Melbourne's gangland murders. Gavin Eades denied any knowledge of this week's shooting murder of Melbourne crime identity Des "Tuppence" Moran outside a café in Ascot Vale & told the newspaper "rumours linking him" to an earlier botched attempt to shoot Moran (as he sat in his Mercedes in the drive of his home in March) were "endangering his life" & "putting the pair at risk". Eades added he had "seen Moran as recently as a fortnight ago" & they were "on good terms". Meanwhile Travis Eades has written "an open letter" to The Herald-Sun "in a bid to clear his name" & declared: "I had nothing to do with the shooting." (Jun 19)
