Friday, 18th December 2009

The 13-year-old former US Broodmare-Of-The-Year Better Than Honour (who last November established a world-record price for a broodmare or broodmare prospect sold at public auction) "is in-foal" to Darley shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry & "is carrying a filly", reported bloodhorse.com. Better Than Honour (Deputy Minister-Blush With Pride, by Blushing Groom) is owned by Michael Moreno & Eric Guillot's Southern Equine Stables & is boarded at Walmac Farm in Kentucky; she was purchased by Southern Equine (not in-foal) for a record US$14 million at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall mixed sale. Better Than Honour is the dam of 2006 US Gr1 Belmont Stakes winner Jazil, 2007 Gr1 Belmont Stakes winner Rags To Riches (also 2007 champion 3YO filly) & Gr2-winner Casino Drive. Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) stands at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley USA in Kentucky for US$150,000 & is shuttling to Australia for the 2009 southern hemisphere breeding season to stand at Darley's Kelvinside stud at Aberdeen in the NSW Hunter Valley for $110,000.
