Tuesday, 6th April 2010

Champion European Sprinter & 6YO stallion US Ranger (Danzig-My Annette, by Red Ransom) will stand at Nagambie-based Independent Stallions Victoria from the 2010 breeding season at $11,000. US Ranger is currently standing his 1st northern hemisphere season at Ben Walden's Pauls Mill Stud in Kentucky (where he has a full book) for US$10,000 & will shuttle for an initial 3 seasons to Independent Stallions; Independent & Walden previously shuttled Artie Schiller, who will rest for the 2010 Southern Hemisphere season before resuming in 2011. US Ranger was undefeated as a juvenile in 3 starts in France & opened his 3YO campaign with a 4-lengths victory in the Prix Djebel in a stakes-record time of 1min 23.7sec; he also finished 2nd by a head in the 2008 UK Gr1 Darley July Cup at Newmarket, as well as placing in France's Gr1 Prix de la Foret & was rated Champion Sprinter as both a 3YO & 4YO. His legendary sire Danzig had more than 50 sire-sons leave Gr1-winners; & his dam My Annette is a 3/4-quarter sister to US sire Dynaformer & a half sister to the dam of US 2009 Champion Freshman Sire Offlee Wild. Independent Stallions Mike Becker declared: "He had the speed factor at top level racing that appeals to Australian breeders, is an outstanding individual & carries a great stallion pedigree, top & bottom line. What more could we want?"
