Tuesday, 6th April 2010

In New Zealand, Stoney Bridge Waikato stallion & former Argentine champion miler Mr Nancho (Southern Halo-Miss Peggy, by Fitzcarraldo) added a juvenile Gr1 triumph when gelded son Nacho Man (Mr Nancho-El Coriero, by The Jogger) notched his 2nd stakes-win in a month with a 1.25-lengths victory in the NZ$200,000 Gr1 Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) for 2YOs at Awapuni. Nacho Man (ridden by Craig Grylls for trainers Mike & Paul Moroney) defeated favoured colt Cellarmaster (Dubawi-Oenology, by Sound Reason) & fellow colt Jimmy Choux (Thorn Park-Cierzo, by Centaine). Nacho Man (a NZ$15,000 weanling at the 2008 NZB Broodmare Sale & subsequently a NZ$27,000 yearling at the 2009 NZB Summer Sale) now has 3 wins (also including February's Listed Waikato Stud Slipper over 1200m at Matamata) from 5 starts for NZ$153,125 earnings.
