Volksraad Adds Singapore Gr3

Tuesday, 6th April 2010
In Singapore, Windsor Park Stud's 7-time NZ champion sire Volksraad (Green Desert-Celtic Assembly, by Secretariat) added a group success when 3YO filly Mexican Rose (Volksraad-Down View, by Gone West) scored a front-running 1.25-lengths victory over her older rivals in the S$200,000 (A$160,000) Gr3 Kranji Sprint (1200m) at Kranji to notch her 2nd successive group victory in 3 weeks. Mexican Rose (ridden by Saimee Jumaat for trainer Laurie Laxon) defeated 4YO gelding Dr Lemon (Pure Prize-Davsoyan, by Gorytus) & Australian-bred 5YO gelding Ntini (Johannesburg-Delia, by Geiger Counter). Mexican Rose (a NZ$85,000 yearling at the 2008 NZB Select Sale at Karaka) has now won 7 of her 8 starts in Singapore (also including last start's Gr3 Merlion Trophy over 1200m on March 12, plus 2009's Gr3 Juvenile Championship over 1200m); & previously in NZ she notched 2 wins from her initial 3 starts.
