Inglis Easter Day-1: $1.2m Fusaichi Pegasus Filly

Wednesday, 7th April 2010

Victorian trainer Mark Kavanagh (acting on behalf of "existing stable clients") paid $1.2 million for a filly by former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus (the 2nd foal out of dual Australian Horse-Of-The-Year & triple Gr1 Melbourne Cup-winning 10-year-old Desert King mare Makybe Diva) consigned by Tony Santic's Makybe stud. Superstar dam Makybe Diva's 15 wins (from 1400-3200m) included 7 Gr1s & 3 Gr2s for $14,526,685 earnings; & she is a half-sister to both Gr2-winner Musket & Gr3-winner Valkyrie Diva. Kavanagh declared: "She's the nicest filly I've seen & I've had a bit of luck with the breed. She is a beautifully balanced filly with a lovely nature." Makybe Diva's 1st foal (a colt by former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo) sold for $1.5 million to fellow Victorian trainer Danny O'Brien at this sale last year.
