Gr1-Winning Darley Sire Shirocco Shuttle To Brazil

Also in Brazil, triple Gr1-winning 10-year-old Darley stallion Shirocco (Monsun-So Sedulous, by The Minstrel) "will shuttle to Haras Santa Ana do Rio Grande for the upcoming Southern Hemisphere season, following the Northern Hemisphere season at Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum's Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket in England," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Shirocco has 108 foals in his 1st crop of racing age (none of whom have started yet this season). Bred in Germany & raced by Baron Georg von Ullmann, Shirocco (unraced as a 2YO) was named 3YO high-weight in both Germany & Italy after winning 2004's Gr1 Deutches Derby (German Derby) & Gr1 Gran Premio del Jockey Club Italiano (Italian Derby). In 2005 he added victory in the US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf & in 2006 also won both the UK Gr1 Coronation Cup & UK Gr2 Jockey Club Stakes, plus the French Gr2 Prix Foy. Overall he recorded 7 wins from 13 starts for US$2,477,588 earnings. He entered his initial season at Dalham Hall Stud in 2007 & currently stands there for £10,000 (A$17,000).
