Monday, 12th April 2010

In Japan yesterday, last year's champion juvenile filly & race favourite Apapane (King Kamehameha-Salty Bid, by Salt Lake) scored a half-length victory in the ¥187.59m (A$2.277m) Gr1 Oka Sho-1000 Guineas (1600m) for 3YO fillies at Hanshin. Apapane (ridden by Masayoshi Ebina for trainer Sakae Kunieda) defeated front-running Oken Sakura (Bago-Run For The Dream, by Real Shadai) & A Shin Returns (King Kamehameha-Eishin Sansan, by Carroll House). Apapane took her record to 4 wins (also including 2009's Listed Juvenile Fillies over 1600m at Hanshin) & a runner-up (in March's Gr3 Tulip Sho over 1600m at Hanshin) from 6 starts for ¥211.523 million (A$2.568m) earnings.
