Juice Wins NZ Gr1 Breeders Stakes

In New Zealand, Rich Hill Stud's Darley shuttler Bertolini (Danzig-Aquilegia, by Alydar) added a Gr1 triumph when 4YO mare Juice (Bertolini-Call Minder, by Christmas Tree) scored a 0.75-length victory in the NZ$200,000 weight-for-age Gr1 NZB Breeders' Stakes (1600m) for fillies & mares at Te Aroha. Juice (ridden by Hayden Tinsley for trained John Wheeler) defeated favoured 6YO mare Culminate (Elnadim-Solstice, by Marceau) & 3YO filly Obsession (Bachelor Duke-Mystery Creek, by Kaapstad). Juice (a NZ$20,000 yearling at the 2007 NZB Carnival Sale) now has 6 wins (also including 2009's Listed Rotorua Stakes over 1400m at Te Aroha, plus 2008's Gr3 NZB Gold Trail Stakes over 1200m at Hastings & Listed NZB Fillies Stakes over 1200m at Avondale) & 7 placings (including February's Listed TRAC Stakes over 2000m at Matamata & January's Listed Anniversary Handicap over 1600m at Trentham, plus 2008's Gr1 NZB 1000 Guineas over 1600m at Riccarton Park & Listed Great Northern Champagne Stakes over 1600m at Ellerslie) from 26 starts for NZ$452,925 earnings.
