Lingote Wins Argentina Gr1 Gilberto De Honor

In South America, former Coolmore shuttler Orpen (Lure-Bonita Francita, by Devil's Bag) added a Gr1 triumph when 4YO entire Lingote De Oro (Orpen-Laika, by Old Trieste) scored a 5-lengths victory in Argentina's Gr1 Gran Premio Gilberto De Honor (2000m) at Hipodromo Argentino de Palermo in Buenos Aires. Lingote De Oro (ridden by Jose Mendez for trainer Ernesto Romero) defeated 6YO entire Aldeano Nov (Romanov-Aldeana Fitz, by Fitzcarraldo) & 3YO colt Bombon Suizo (Sunray Spirit-Bombonesa, by Equalize). Lingote De Oro took his record to 6 wins (also including February's Listed Clasico Haras Argentinos over 1800 at Palermo, plus 2009's Gr2 Clasico Comparacion over 2500m at Palermo) & 5 runners-up (in each of 2008's Gr1 Gran Premio Jockey Club over 2000m at San Isidro, Gr1 Gran Premio 2000 Guineas over 1600m at San Isidro & Gr1 Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile over 1600m at San Isidro) from 16 starts.
