Shoot Out Wins Gr1 AJC Australian Derby

On the Australian track, dual Derby-winning former Windsor Park Stud and now Coolmore shuttler & 6-time Gr1 victor High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells-Kasora, by Darshaan) added a Gr1 trifecta when gelded son Shoot Out (High Chaparral-Pentamerous, by Pentire) notched his 2nd Gr1 triumph in a month when he motored past his rivals in the final stages for a 1.25-lengths victory in the $1.3 million Gr1 AJC Australian Derby (2400m) for 3YOs at Royal Randwick in Sydney. Shoot Out (ridden by Stathi Katsidis for trainer John Wallace) defeated fellow gelding Descarado (High Chaparral-Karamea Lady, by Lord Ballina) & the colt Monaco Consul (High Chaparral-Argante, by Star Way). Shoot Out (a $15,000 yearling consigned from Oaklands Stud at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) now has 5 wins (also including March's Gr1 Randwick Guineas over 1600m at Randwick & February's Gr2 Royal Sovereign Stakes over 1200m at Randwick, plus 2009's Gr2 QTC Sires' Produce Stakes over 1400m at Eagle Farm) & 2 runners-up (including last start's Gr2 Hobartville Stakes over 1400m at Rosehill on February 27) from 11 starts for $1,364,200 earnings.
