Stupendous Wins NZ Great Easter Stakes

Monday, 12th April 2010

Rich Hill Stud stallion Pentire (Be My Guest-Gull Nook, by Mill Reef) added a NZ black-type success when 5YO gelding Stupendous (Pentire-Flying Catalina, by Pre Catelan) gained the decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the NZ$45,000 Listed Great Easter Stakes Handicap (1400m) at Riccarton. Stupendous (ridden by Kelly Myers for trainer Kevin Myers) scored by a neck from fellow 5YO gelding Diamond Skeem (Diamond Dane-Skibbereen, by Senor Pete) with a further short-neck to favoured 6YO gelding O'Cartier (My Halo-Carinda, by The Jogger). Stupendous now has 9 wins (also including 2009's Listed Levin Stakes over 1200m at Otaki) & 4 placings (including January's Gr1 The Oaks Stud Telegraph Handicap over 1200m at Trentham) from 21 starts for NZ$229,188 earnings.
