Gr1-Winner Eagle Mountain Joins NZ Brighthill Farm

NZ Brighthill Farm announced it has secured Gr1-winning & 4-times Gr1-placed 6YO stallion Eagle Mountain (Rock Of Gibraltar-Masskana, by Darshaan) for stud duty alongside Perfectly Ready (More Than Ready-Elle Duccio, by Danehill) & Patapan (Stravinsky-Pappa Reale, by Indian Ridge). UK-bred Eagle Mountain raced in 6 countries & won from 1200-2100m in top company; overall he retires with 5 wins (4 stakes including the Gr1 Hong Kong International Cup over 2000m, Gr2 Irish Beresford Stakes over 8 furlongs, Gr2 Irish Royal Whip Stakes over 10 furlongs, Gr3 UK Joel Stakes setting a Newmarket Rowley Mile track record 1min 34.07sec for 8 furlongs) & 8 placings (7 stakes including the Gr1 US Breeders' Cup Turf over 12 furlongs, Gr1 English Derby over 12 furlongs, Gr1 Irish Derby over 12 furlongs, Gr1 UK Champion Stakes over 10 furlongs, Gr2 UK York Stakes over 10 furlongs, Gr2 Irish Futurity Stakes over 7 furlongs, Gr2 UK Champagne Stakes over 7 furlongs) from 19 starts. At the end of his classic year, Eagle Mountain was named Ireland's Champion Middle Distance 3YO & subsequently purchased by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum & transferred to leading international trainer Mike de Kock, who declared: "Eagle Mountain is arguably the best horse I have ever trained. He possessed amazing speed, whether he was running 6 furlongs or 10 furlongs - he was always competitve against the best horses in the world." Brighthill's Nick King confirmed: "Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum will retain a 60% stake in Eagle Mountain & the remaining shares will be available to NZ breeders." Eagle Mountain (a half-brother to 4 winners, including French Gr1-winner & Champion French 2YO Sulk) will stand at Brighthill for NZ$12,000+GST.
