1st Winner In Europe For Patinack Farm
In France, Patinack Farm recorded its 1st European victory when Irish-bred 3YO filly Hafjell (Tiger Hill-Lille Hammer, by Sadler's Wells) scored on debut over 2100m at Cholet for trainer Richard Gibson, who noted on his website she is a "Paris standard filly who will continue to improve". Hafjell "was 1 of 3 one yearlings totalling €1.3 million (A$1.95m) bought by agent Bertrand Le Metayer on behalf of Patinack at the 2008 Arqana August yearling sale in Deauvile," noted racingpost.com. At that sale Patinack also bought the top lot, a €770,000 (A$1.155m) Galileo colt out of Lille Hammer's daughter Olimpic Girl; named Tall Poppy & also in training with Gibson, "he is yet to make his debut but holds entries for the Gr1 Grand Prix de Paris & Gr1Prix du Jockey-Club".
