Inglis Mares Day-1: $900k Serious Speed

In the auction ring, Patinack Farm paid top price of $900,000 for Gr1-winning & dual Gr1-placed 5YO mare Serious Speed (Royal Academy-Twitter, by Kendor) during the opening session at the 4-day Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale at Newmarket in Sydney. Serious Speed (consigned as part of Toorak Park Stud's unreserved dispersal) was sold in-foal to Gr1-winning Emirates Park stallion Al Maher. On the track, Serious Speed recorded 5 wins (including the Gr1 Thousand Guineas over 1600m, Gr2 Hobartville Stakes over 1400m & Gr3 Lee Stakes over 1600m) & 5 placings (including the Gr1 Crown Oaks over 2500m, Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes over 1200m, Gr2 Edward Manifold Stakes over 1620m, Listed C.S.Hayes Memorial Cup over 1600m & Listed Lindsay Park Guineas over 1600m) from 21 starts for $967,790 earnings.
