Johannesburg Adds UK Black-Type

Thursday, 15th April 2010

Also in the UK overnight, former Coolmore shuttler & champion 2YO Johannesburg (Hennessy-Myth, by Ogygian) added a black-type success when US-bred colt Red Jazz (Johannesburg-Now That's Jazz, by Sword Dance) scored a 0.75-length victory in the £40,000 (A$67,000) Listed European Free Handicap (7 furlongs) for 3YOs at Newmarket. Red Jazz (ridden by Michael Hills for trainer Barry Hills) defeated fellow colts Quadrille (Danehill Dancer-Fictitious, by Machiavellian) & US-bred Mata Keranjang (More Than Ready-Love Sick, by Salt Lake). Last year as a 2YO, Red Jazz also finished 3rd in the UK Gr2 July Stakes (6 furlongs) at Newmarket.
