Wilander Begins Stud Career At Lindsay Park

Thursday, 15th April 2010

Lindsay Park announced that Gr2-winning 4YO stallion Wilander (Exceed And Excel-Scandinavia, by Snippets) will be commencing stud duties in 2010 at its Barossa Valley base. Wilander was a $625,000 yearling bred & consigned by Lee Fleming's Eliza Park at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney. On the track, he recorded 4 wins (including the Gr2 Schillaci Stakes over 1000m at Caulfield, Gr3 Blue Diamond Prelude over 1100m at Caulfield & Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap over 1000m at Flemington) & a runner-up from 10 starts for $342,850 earnings. Wilander's dam Scandinavia was a Gr2-winner & 4-times Gr1-placed. Lindsay Park managing director Sam Hayes enthused: "Wilander was a $625,000 yearling, a Group-winning 2YO & 3YO with an outstanding pedigree. That is a recipe that works. We have been looking for a speed-influenced Danehill-line stallion to compliment our roster & Wilander fits the bill perfectly." Wilander will stand his 1st season at $8,800.
