UK Tatts 2YOs Final Average Up 7.1%

Friday, 16th April 2010

Overall at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale, 96 2YOs sold for a cumulative 7,656,500 guineas (A$13.016m) which was down 10.6% on last year (when 115 lots were sold). However the average of 79,755 guineas (A$136,000) was up 7.1% & the median of 70,000 guineas (A$119,000) was up 16.7%. Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony commented: "The final figures compare very favourably with last year's sale. Turnover is down, as expected with a smaller catalogue, but both the average & median have risen which is a tribute to the quality of the horses & to the professionalism of the consignors. The market has been selective at times, but we have seen plenty of international competition at the top end. . . . . Alongside the positive aspects, however, the prevailing economic uncertainties continue to have an impact on the European bloodstock market & the domestic demand, with a few notable & welcome exceptions, remains tentative."
