Elusive Quality Adds US Black-Type

Monday, 19th April 2010

Leading US general sire of 2004 & former Darley Australia shuttler Elusive Quality (Gone West-Touch Of Greatness, by Hero's Honor) added a black-type success when 4YO mare West Ocean (Elusive Quality-Ocean Drive, by Belong To Me) raced away for a 4.75-lengths victory in the US$100,000 Listed Giant's Causeway Stakes (5.5 furlongs on turf) for fillies & mares at Keeneland in Kentucky. West Ocean (ridden by Javier Castellano for trainer Todd Pletcher) defeated 5YO mare Libor Lady (Exchange Rate-Laughing Erin, by Irish Castle) & fellow 4YO mare Silver Time (Indian Charlie-Casanova Striker, by Smart Strike). West Ocean (a US$400,000 yearling at the 2007 Keeneland September Sale) took her record to 5 wins (also including last start's Listed Bienville Stakes over 5.5 furlongs at Fair Grounds on March 26 & 2009's Listed Flitalong Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Aqueduct) & 2 runners-up (including January's Listed Ladies Turf Sprint over 5 furlongs at Gulfstream Park) from 8 starts for US$219,640 earnings.
