Fasliyev Adds Irish Black-Type

Monday, 19th April 2010

In Ireland, former Coolmore Stud shuttler Fasliyev (Nureyev-Mr P's Princess, by Mr Prospector) added a black-type success when 3YO filly Velvet Flicker (Fasliyev-Velvet Appeal, by Petorius) finished strongly from the rear of the field to snatch victory over her older rivals in a 3-way photo-finish to the €42,500 (A$64,000) Listed Woodlands Stakes (5 furlongs) at Naas. Velvet Flicker (ridden by Chris Hayes for trainer Kevin Prendergast) notched her 3rd successive win in scoring by a neck from UK-bred 7YO gelding Luisant (Pivotal-La Legere, by Lit De Justice) with a further short-head to 6YO gelding Snaefell (Danehill Dancer-Sovereign Grace, by Standaan). Velver Flicker was a €40,000 (A$60,000) yearling at the 2008 Goffs Million Sale; overall she now has 4 wins & 2 placings (including 2009's Listed Grangecon Stud Stakes over 5 furlongs at The Curragh) from 10 starts for €77,021 (A$116,000) earnings.
