Monday, 19th April 2010

Ill-fated Lindsay Park stallion & 1994 Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner Jeune (Kalaglow-Youthful, by Green Dancer) added a group success when favoured daughter Impressive Jeuney (Jeune-Rego's Girl, by Rory's Jester) notched her 2nd successive stakes victory in a fortnight with a decisive 2.75-lengths win in the $250,000 Gr3 West Australian Oaks (2400m) for 3YO fillies at Ascot. Impressive Jeuney (ridden by Shaun O'Donnell for trainer Darren McAuliffe) defeated Broccoletta (Brocco-Crime Scene, by Scenic) & Tropical Fury (Dante's Fury-Ginger Swirl, by Racer's Edge). Impressive Jeuney (a $27,000 weanling consigned by Newhaven Park Stud at the 2007 Magic Millions National Sale) now has 6 wins (also including last start's Listed Natasha Stakes over 2200m at Ascot on April 3, plus 2009's Listed WA St Leger over 2100m at Ascot) & 6 placings (including March's Gr3 WA Champion Fillies Stakes over 1600m at Ascot & 2009's Gr3 Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic over 1400m for 3YOs at Ascot) from 16 starts for $441,700 earnings.
