Monday, 19th April 2010

Triple Gr1-winning Darley stallion & former Stoney Bridge shuttler Storming Home (Machiavellian-Try To Catch Me, by Shareef Dancer) added a juvenile black-type success when his colt Lion Tamer (Storming Home-Lioness, by Generous) scored a 0.75-length victory in the NZ$45,000 Listed Champagne Stakes (1600m) for 2YOs at Ellerslie. Lion Tamer (ridden by Michael Coleman for trainers Murray & Bjorn Baker) defeated favoured fellow colt Hoofit (Mossman-Chuckle, by Danehill) & the gelding Red General (Volksraad-Axis, by Spinning World). Lion Tamer took his record to 3 wins (also including 2009's Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes over 1100m at Pukekohe) & a placing (in 2009's Listed Weetwood Grange Stakes over 1100m at Te Rapa) from 5 starts for NZ$80,375 earnings.
