Megatic Wins Grandstand Cup

Ill-fated former Western Australian Alwyn Park Stud shuttler Danetime (Danehill-Allegheny River, by Lear Fan) added a black-type success when 5YO gelding Megatic (Danetime-Mega Role, by Old Spice) scored a 1-length victory in the $75,000 Listed Grandstand Cup (1400m) at Ascot. Megatic (ridden by Patrick Carbery for trainer Albie Beckett) defeated 7YO gelding Noble Steed (Dauberval-Noble Baroness, by Protos) & 4YO gelding Late Night Flight (Red Eye Special-Polish Spirit, by Dauberval). Megatic now has 9 wins (also including both 2009's & 2008's Listed Northerly Stakes over 1400m at Ascot, plus 2007's Gr1 Kingston Town Classic over 1800m at Ascot, Gr2 WA Guineas over 1600m at Ascot & Listed Belgravia Stakes over 1200m at Ascot) & 5 placings (2009's Listed Bolton Stakes over 1200m at Belmont Park, plus 2008's Gr3 Asian Beau Stakes over 1400m at Ascot & 2007's Listed Fairetha Stakes over 1400m at Ascot) from 22 starts for $850,400 earnings.
