Stratum $60.5k Heads 2010 Widden Roster

Monday, 19th April 2010

NSW's Hunter Valley-based Widden Stud announced its 2010 stallion roster & fees, with principal Antony Thompson noting: "In recent years we have worked very hard to acquire what we believe are the very best sire prospects for Australian conditions and the success of Stratum (a Gr1 Golden Slipper winner) in producing a Golden Slipper winner from his 1st-crop (this month's winner Crystal Lily) reassures us that horses able to meet our stringent selection criteria are likely to become successful sires. In setting our fees for 2010 we are mindful of the current economic climate with the majority of our horses at the same fee as last year or slightly reduced with the exception of Stratum, who will be crowned Champion 1st-Season Sire & Champion 2YO Sire by earnings, so this is a direct response to the demand from breeders."
