Monday, 19th April 2010

In Singapore, former Arrowfield Stud shuttler & Japan's 2004 Champion 1st Season Sire French Deputy (Deputy Minister-Mitterand, by Hold Your Peace) added a group success when unbeaten Australian-bred 3YO gelding Better Than Ever (French Deputy-Songfest, by Unbridled's Song) blitzed his rivals by 7-lengths to maintain his perfect record & lead in an Australian-bred trifecta in the S$350,000 (A$280,000) Gr2 3YO Classic (1400m) at Kranji. Better Than Ever (ridden by Saimee Jumaat for trainer Laurie Laxon) defeated fellow Australian-bred geldings Alacarte (Umatilla-Euchre, by Final Card) & Merchant (Fubu-So Divine, by So Factual). Better Than Ever (a NZ$80,000 yearling at the 2008 NZB Premier Sale at Karaka) now has 8 wins from 8 starts (also including last start's Gr3 3YO Sprint over 1200m on March 26, plus February's Gr3 Three Rings Trophy over 1400m & 2009's Gr3 Steward's Cup over 1400m).
