Dao Dao "Sizzles" Before HK Gr1 Champions Mile

Wednesday, 21st April 2010

In Hong Kong, the official HK Jockey Club bulletin from yesterday morning's trackwork at Sha Tin reported Australian-bred 6YO gelding Dao Dao (Shinko Forest-Casual Way, by Casual Lies) "looking every inch the powerhouse that he is, galloped impressively on the turf & sizzled home his last 400m in 21.4sec" in preparation for Sunday's Gr1 Champions Mile. Trainer Michael Hawkes declared: "He's looking good!" Dao Dao (who finished 3rd in the Champions Mile last year) was runner-up in the Gr1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill in Sydney on April 3 before leaving for HK & Australian jockey Darren Beadman (who rode Dao Dao in the Ryder Stakes) commented: "No doubting he's a good horse & one of the real chances. He probably needs a good gate & a smother early, but you could say that about most of the field here. The Mile is very even & may come down to which horse gets the best run."
