Nikolic Inquiry Continues Today
In "yet another twist in racing's great melodrama, Danny Nikolic will front Racing Victoria stewards at 8.30am today" reported The Herald-Sun. On legal advice to "get on with it", Nikolic "backed down from his angry stance on Wednesday that he would not be grilled by Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey on days he has race rides". Nikolic (who has just 1 ride at Geelong today) "will front stewards accompanied by his Sydney-based lawyer Paul O'Sullivan". Nikolic "will be asked to explain comments he made on Wednesday, in which he was critical of Bailey & described the on-going inquiry into 10 beaten rides as a witch-hunt". Nikolic told the newspaper last night that he "stood by his comments". Nikolic added he was "unsure what to expect" at today's interview, but noted: "I'd say it's got something to do with the rides they've been querying. My solicitor has advised me to get on with it. I'm happy to talk to them if it means getting this thing over & done with sooner rather than later."
