Court Loss "Will Cost TVN $1m Legal Fees"
In the Victorian Supreme Court late last week, Thorough Vision (the broadcaster owned by the racing industry) “lost its case in which it was attempting to stop races being shown on the new Sky channels” & the failed action “against Sky & Tabcorp will cost TVN $1 million in legal fees” reported The Age. The court “handed down a judgment that reaffirmed Tabcorp's legal right to broadcast coverage of TVN races (Victorian & Sydney racing) on its new channels” (Sky Racing2 & Sky Racing World). The decision “enables Sky Racing to continue its strategy of delivering racing from around the world”. Sky Racing will launch its new Sky Racing World channel on May 4. The judgment “comes after TVN's appeal to the court against a decision handed down by an arbitrator last December”.
