Tuesday, 27th April 2010

Coolmore shuttler & former star Australian sprinter Choisir (Danehill Dancer-Great Selection, by Lunchtime) added a group quinella when 4YO mare Sacred Choice (Choisir-Sacred Habit, by Sir Tristram) gained the judge’s decision in a 4-way photo-finish to the $150,000 Gr2 Emancipation Stakes (1600m) for fillies & mares at Randwick. Sacred Choice (ridden by Michael Rodd for trainer Joseph Pride) scored by a half-head from favoured fellow 4YO mare Gold Water (Choisir-Float, by Devil's Bag) with a further short-halfhead to another 4YO mare Strawberry Field (Encosta De Lago-Red Labelle, by Blevic). Sacred Choice (a $40,000 yearling consigned by Goodwood Farm at the 2007 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) now has 7 wins (also including March’s Listed Aspiration Handicap over 1600m at Randwick) & 5 placings from 20 starts for $306,890 earnings.
