Stewards Finish Danny Nikolic Inquiry
Prominent Victorian jockey Danny Nikolic “will know within a week if he will be charged in relation to an exhaustive steward's inquiry that began when he was beaten aboard an odds-on favourite at Mornington in January” reported The Herald-Sun. Nikolic was told by Racing Victoria stewards that they have now “concluded their investigation into 10 beaten rides & the betting activities of Nikolic associates that surrounded them”. Nikolic was grilled for about an hour on Friday at RV headquarters & afterwards his legal counsel Paul O'Sullivan told the newspaper: “Today is day 105 & we are glad it's completed so that Danny can continue in his riding. They (stewards) have indicated to us that the inquiries they intended to make are complete. We're not in a position to predict what may happen as a result of the inquiry. They indicated they would inform us of the results of their on-going inquiry some time (this) week.” O'Sullivan also revealed that “other matters were raised” but said “that's a matter between Danny & the stewards”.
