Thursday, 29th April 2010

The expensive half-brother to 4-time Gr1-winning & 4-time Gr1-placed 2005 Australian champion 3YO filly Alinghi (Encosta de Lago-Oceanfast, by Monde Bleu) makes his racetrack debut on Saturday when 2YO colt Kookaburras (Redoute's Choice-Oceanfast) contests the Listed Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield in Melbourne for trainer Lee Freedman. Sheik Mohammed's Darley Australia paid $750,000 for Kookaburras (consigned by Yarraman Park Stud as agent) at the 2009 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney. His 4-time Gr1-winning & 4-time Gr1-placed champion half-sister Alinghi recorded 11 wins (including the Gr1 Newmarket Handicap, Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes, Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes, Gr1 Thousand Guineas) for $3.559 million earnings.
