Nothin' Leica Dane Moved To Cangon Stud
Former Byerley Stud stallion Nothin' Leica Dane (Danehill-Leica Pretender, by Sir Tristram) will relocate to Jamie Mackay's Dungog-based Cangon Stud on the fringe of the NSW Hunter Valley following Byerley owner Martin Hawcroft's decision to sell the Sandy Hollow property. On the track, multiple Gr1-winning 15-year-old Nothin' Leica Dane recorded 6 wins (including the Gr1 Victoria Derby, Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes, Gr2 Hobartville Stakes, Listed Dulcify Handicap & Listed Norman Robinson Stakes) & 8 placings (including the Gr1 Melbourne Cup. Gr1 Sydney Cup, Gr1 Metropolitan Handicap, Gr1 Rosehill Guineas, Gr2 Hill Stakes, Gr2 Chelmsford Stakes, French Gr3 Longchamp Prix Foy & Listed Newcastle Spring Stakes) from 28 starts for $1.744 million earnings. Nothin' Leica Dane (whose daughter Hot Danish won last weekend's Gr1 All Aged Stakes over 1400m at Randwick) retired to stud at Byerley Stud in 1998 & his 190+ winners (from 1000-3200m) also include Leica Falcon, Ain't Seen Nothin', Cinque Cento, Superior Star & Utzon. Nothin' Leica Dane will stand the 2010 breeding season at Cangon alongside Recapitalize (Royal Academy-Blayney Breeze, by Dahar).
