Euroa-based Blue Gum Farm in Victoria announced "the acquisition of" dual Gr1-winning & triple Gr1-placed 5YO stallion Turffontein (Johannesburg-Spirit Of Grace, by Dr Grace) to "be syndicated to stand alongside Elvstroem, Churchill Downs & Astronomer Royal for the 2010 season" at an initial fee of $13,750. Turffontein (a $70,000 yearling at the 2006 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale) retires with 5 wins (including February's Gr1 William Reid Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley, plus 2009's Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield & both 2008's Gr2 Queensland Guineas over 1600m at Eagle Farm & Listed Wellington Race Club Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield) & 12 placings (including 2009's Gr2 Salinger Stakes over 1200m at Flemington & Gr2 Caulfield Sprint over 1100m, plus 2008's Gr1 Patinack Farm VRC Classic over 1200m at Flemington, Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield, Gr1 Doomben 10,000 over 1350m, Gr2 Hobartville Stakes over 1400m at Rosehill, Gr3 Jayco Cup over 1400m at Caulfield, Gr3 South Pacific Classic over 1400m at Randwick & Listed Hawkesbury Guineas over 1400m, as well as 2007's Gr3 The Run To The Rose over 1300m at Rosehill) from 31 starts for $1,264,250 earnings.
