Road To Rock Singapore Trip Off & Heads To Qld
The Singapore Turf Club announced 5YO entire Road To Rock (Encosta de Lago-Trewornan, by Midyan) who won last weekend's Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick "has pulled out of the Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup to concentrate on the Queensland Winter carnival instead". Trainer Anthony Cummings confirmed the decision was based on Road To Rock's future as a stallion prospect, noting: "We are trying to sell him as a stallion & the races here are in front of the people you are trying to sell to." Road To Rock will now target the Gr2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast on May 8 & Gr1 Doomben Cup (2020m) on May 22. To date, Road To Rock (a $100,000 yearling consigned by Willow Park at the 2006 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) boasts 6 wins (also including 2009's Gr1 Arrowfield Stud George Main Stakes over 1600m at Randwick & Listed Sportingbet Gold Cup over 2000m at Caulfield, plus 2008's Listed Carbine Club Stakes over 1600m at Randwick) & 9 placings (including the Gr1 Doncaster Mile over 1600m at Randwick on April 17, plus February's Gr3 Carlyon Cup over 1400m at Caulfield, as well as 2009's Gr1 Arrrowfield Stud Epsom Handicap over 1600m at Randwick) from 34 starts for $1,153,350 earnings.
