1st Stakes-Winner For Doyen

Monday, 3rd May 2010

Multiple Gr1-winning former Dalham Hall stallion & now German Gestut Auenquelle-based 10-year-old sire Doyen (Sadler's Wells-Moon Cactus, by Kris) recorded his 1st stakes-winner when Godolphin's UK-bred daughter Lady's Purse (Doyen-Jetbeeah, by Lomond) scored by a head in the €55,000 (A$80,000) Listed Prix Caravelle (2100m) for 3YO fillies at Toulouse. Lady's Purse (ridden by Fabrice Veron for trainer Henri-Alex Pantall) defeated Irish-bred Heaven's Heart (Captain Rio-Heaven's Command, by Priolo) & Shining Sea (Anabaa Blue-Seelland, by Linamix). Lady's Purse was a 20,000 guineas (A$34,000) yearling at the 2008 UK Tattersalls October Sale & overall now has 2 wins from 3 starts for €34,500 (A$50,000) earnings. Her Irish-bred sire Doyen stands at Gestut Auenquelle for €5,000 (A$7,300). As a 4YO, Doyen broke Ascot's 21-year-old track record in the UK Gr1 Hardwicke Stakes, before also winning the 2004 UK Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes & being named England's high-weight older horse (11-14 furlongs). Doyen is also a full-brother to UK G1 English Oaks winner Moonshell (granddam of multiple Gr1-winning Australian champion Miss Finland).
