Sanderson Wins Gunsynd Classic

Monday, 3rd May 2010

Ill-fated Oaklands Stud stallion Iglesia (Last Tycoon-Yodells, by Marscay) added a group success (& 8th individual stakes-winner) when gelded son Sanderson (Iglesia-Princess Tatsuta, by Fuji Kiseki) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $125,000 Gr3 Gunsynd Classic (1600m) for 3YOs at Eagle Farm. Sanderson (ridden by Jason Holder for trainer Kelly Doughty) scored by a half-head from the gelding Listen Son (Big Jesse-Backstage Star, by Regal Classic) with a further short-head to favoured fellow gelding Brave The Way (Falbrav-La Belle Diamante, by Zabeel). Sanderson (a $3,000 bargain consigned by Oaklands Stud at the 2009 Magic Millions Summer Carnival Sale) now has 4 wins from 13 starts for $241,000 earnings.
