Monday, 3rd May 2010

Former Woodlands & now Darley Stud's 11-time Gr1-winning World Champion Miler & Australian Racehorse-Of-The-Year Lonhro (Octagonal-Shadea, by Straight Strike) added a black-type quinella (& 14th individual stakes-winner) when 4YO mare Serenissima (Lonhro-Santissima, by Quest For Fame) scored a 0.75-length victory in the $100,000 Listed Darley Crown (1300m) for fillies & mares at Hawkesbury. Serenissima (ridden by Josh Parr for trainer Peter Snowden) defeated top-weighted fellow 4YO mare Renaissance (Lonhro-Seances, by Canny Lad) & another 4YO mare Purrpurrlena (Catbird-Magdalena, by Snaadee). Serenissima now has 4 wins & 3 placings (including 2009's Listed Crown Promenade Stakes over 1100m at Flemington & Listed P.J.Bell Handicap over 1200m at Randwick) from 13 starts for $224,500 earnings.
