Peter Lovemore Dies In South Africa Aged 66
In South Africa, legendary thoroughbred auctioneer Peter Lovemore died from a heart attack aged 66. Lovemore was originally a tobacco auctioneer & prominent SA colleague Robin Bruss commented last night: "Peter revolutionised auctions in his native Zimbabwe & South Africa with his brand of selling which was part tobacco chant-part rock star, spiced with a sharp wit & more one-liners than a stand up comic. He owned the rostrums in Southern Africa for 33 years, sold at Goffs, Fasig Tipton & a sensational guest appearance for Dalgettys in Melbourne in which he received a standing ovation from buyers." Lovemore was also an accomplished golfer, commentator & writer & mentored many aspiring young men into the racing industry.
