NZ Gr1-Winning 2YO Banchee Sold To Pencarrow Stud

The season's NZ Gr1-winning & Gr2-winning 2YO filly Banchee (Oratorio-Miss Jessie Jay, by Spectacularphantom) has been sold by Sam Kelt to Peter & Philip Vela of Pencarrow Stud, reported NZ Thoroughbred Marketing. Banchee (a NZ$375,000 yearling at the 2009 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) currently boasts 3 wins (including March's Gr1 Auckland Diamond Stakes over 1200m at Ellerslie & February's Gr2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes over 1200m at Matamata) & 2 placings (in January's Gr3 Eclipse Stakes over 1200m at Ellerslie & Listed Karaka Million over 1200m at Ellerslie) from 6 starts. Banchee is also a half-sister to star 3YO filly Katie Lee (Pins-Miss Jessie Jay, by Spectacularphantom) who this season became the 1st horse in NZ history to win both the NZ Gr1 1000 Guineas (1600m) & NZ Gr1 2000 Guineas (1600m).
