Alamosa Fee Cut 45% To NZ$15k At Wellfield

Friday, 7th May 2010

Palmerston North-based Wellfield Lodge announced 4-time Gr1-winning 5YO stallion Alamosa (O'Reilly-Lodore Mystic, by Centaine) will stand the 2010 season at NZ$15,000+GST (down 45.5% from last year's 1st-season at NZ$27,500+GST). Wellfield's Huw Taylor told NZ Thoroughbred Marketing: "Last season Alamosa served a restricted book of 100 mares. The quality of mare he was supported with by the syndicate members & from outside bookings was quite exceptional." On the track, Alamosa (a NZ$60,000 yearling at the 2006 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) won 2008's Gr1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield in Melbourne, as well earlier NZ victories in the Gr1 Otaki-Maroi WFA (1600m) at Otaki, Gr1 Thorndon Mile (1600m) at Trentham, Gr1 Ford Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Ellerslie, Gr2 Avondale Guineas (1600m), Gr2 Hawke's Bay Guineas (1400m) at Hastings, Gr3 Wellington Stakes (1600m) at Trentham & Listed Wellesley Stakes (1000m) at Hastings.
