Hissing Sid Wins Warrnambool Cup

On the track yesterday, Bombora Downs-based 4-time Gr1-winning stallion Golden Snake (Danzig-Dubian, by High Line) added a black-type success when favoured 5YO gelding Hissing Sid (Golden Snake-Domitrix, by At Talaq) raced away for a 4.5-lengths victory in the $130,000 Listed Warrnambool Cup (2350m) in Victoria to claim this race for the 2nd successive year. Hissing Sid (ridden by Ben Melham for trainers Bill & Simon Wilde) defeated front-running 6YO gelding Cruyfforme (Johan Cruyff-Beymatilla, by Umatilla) & top-weighted fellow 6YO gelding Light Vision (Zerpour-Switches, by Naturalism). Hissing Sid (a $25,000 yearling at the 2006 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale) now has 7 wins (also including 2009's Listed Warrnambool Cup over 2350m) & 7 placings (including last month's Gr3 Easter Cup over 2000m at Caulfield & 2009's Gr2 Herbert Power Stakes over 2400m at Caulfield) from 24 starts for $438,790 earnings.
